Responsibilities
Provide direct, hands-on technical solutions for mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic challenges encountered in mining equipment, ensuring minimal downtime and maintaining operational continuity
Act as the Field Service Supervisor's delegate by managing daily crew activities, facilitating communication, and driving productivity when the supervisor is unavailable
Identify warranty-related concerns, coordinate timely repairs, and meticulously document all related work to streamline the claims process and safeguard company interests
Deliver on-the-job training, share best practices, and mentor technicians to build a competent and self-sufficient workforce capable of tackling complex equipment issues
Foster and maintain strong relationships with customers by proactively addressing their concerns, providing consistent service updates, and ensuring their experience aligns with company standards
Collaborate closely with crew leadmen and the Field Service Supervisor to prioritize tasks, allocate resources efficiently, and maintain seamless workflow across job sites
Oversee the preparation, verification, and maintenance of service reports, repair documentation, and work orders to ensure accurate records for compliance and analysis
Analyze and troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues using a methodical approach to reduce equipment downtime and optimize performance
Uphold and enforce strict adherence to all safety protocols and regulations, promoting a culture of safety awareness and risk mitigation among team members
Identify opportunities for process enhancements, equipment upgrades, and training improvements, contributing to the company's commitment to excellence and innovation
Qualification
Required
Associate degree or technical diploma in Mechanical Technology, Electrical Technology, or a closely related discipline; equivalent professional experience in mining or heavy equipment maintenance will also be considered
Credentials in hydraulics, electrical systems, safety protocols, or mechanical repair are highly advantageous, reflecting a solid foundation of relevant expertise
Minimum of three years' hands-on experience working with mining or heavy equipment in a mechanical capacity, demonstrating practical problem-solving and maintenance skills
Proven ability to lead teams, facilitate training, and act as a liaison between technical staff and management effectively
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate across multiple teams and maintain positive customer relations
Capability to diagnose and resolve complex mechanical or electrical issues efficiently, with attention to detail and safety compliance
Comfortable working in dynamic, field-based environments where priorities may shift rapidly, exhibiting flexibility and proactive initiative
Demonstrated knowledge of and adherence to occupational health and safety standards within the mining industry
