Trainer-Equipment & Utility / Senior Trainer- Equipment & Utility

Responsibilities
Conducts training in the use of utility equipment and related tools
Supports all aspects of training related to MSD’s Utility Worker program
Researches material on the safe operation of heavy equipment, vehicles and field tools currently possessed by MSD and for planned equipment purchases
Supports the development of eLearning modules and LMS administration
Provides support for all MSD training initiatives, and select HR functions
Collaborates with Operations Division leadership to conduct ongoing training needs assessment, design and deliver training programs to support employee career advancement, division/department initiatives and performance goals
Administers the MSD Utility Training Program
Coordinates with management to support effective integration of new equipment purchases into day-to-day utilization by employees
Administers MSD’s commercial driver’s license (CDL) training program and leads the training
Provides training support to all aspects of Utility Program and CDL training programs
Delivers equipment training to all areas of Operations Division
Participates in regular meetings with all Operations Division management to conduct ongoing assessment, planning and delivery of equipment training
Assists with LMS administration, and eLearning course development
Observes field worker practices to identify opportunities for performance improvement
Advises utility workers and supervisors regarding employee career advancement through the utility program
Maintains accurate training records in the MSD training database and provides employee training reports as requested
Participates in new hire orientation
Conducts or assists with applicant assessments
Attends external training to maintain subject expertise
Serves as a member of the flood pump station team
Performs other duties as assigned
Develops and administers all aspects of Utility Program training and CDL training programs
Creates enhancements and updates of the Utility Program
Orients new Utility employees and their management to the program
Delivers and monitors training progress
Communicates employee program status
Enters trainee activity into training log
Collaborates with HR Coordinator to determine Utility employee qualification for advancement
Designs and delivers field and equipment training to new hires in all areas of the Operations Division
Registers as MSD’s designated trainer with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, maintaining MSD’s registration status as a training provider, and all aspects of employee attainment of a CDL
Provides consultation to MSD Safety & Security, Legal, and Employee Relations Administration staff to assist with training related employee disciplinary processes and determinations
Conducts quarterly meetings with all Operations Division management to conduct ongoing assessment, development, planning and delivery of equipment training
Assists with LMS administration, and eLearning course development
Observes field worker practices to identify opportunities for performance improvement
Develops intervention and coordinates changes with relevant management
Advises utility workers and supervisors regarding employee career advancement through the utility program
Maintains accurate training records in the MSD training database and provides employee training reports as requested
Participates in new hire orientation
Coordinates creation and retention of SOP’s for critical functions
Provides guidance and training to new Training Department employees
Conducts or assists with applicant assessments
Attends external training to maintain subject expertise
Serves on flood pump station team
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Associate degree in education, construction, engineering, or related field for Trainer- Equipment & Utility
Three or more years of experience in equipment operation for Trainer- Equipment & Utility
Must possess a CDL Class A with N endorsement license for Trainer- Equipment & Utility
Must have safe work and driving habits for Trainer- Equipment & Utility
Bachelor Degree in education, construction, engineering, or related field for Senior Trainer- Equipment & Utility
Four or more years of related training experience for Senior Trainer- Equipment & Utility
Two or more years of experience in equipment operation for Senior Trainer- Equipment & Utility
Must possess a CDL Class A with N endorsement certification with minimum of two years of CDL training for Senior Trainer- Equipment & Utility
Must have safe work and driving habits for Senior Trainer- Equipment & Utility
Preferred
One or more years of training experience preferred
Wastewater Collections System license preferred
