Utility Systems Repairer-Operator

The National Park Service is responsible for preserving the natural and cultural resources of the United States. Responsibilities

Ensures the water treatment and distribution process is compliant with the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) and the United States Public Health Service (USPHS) standards. Responsible for water quality monitoring, sampling, testing and reporting
Ensures the wastewater collection process is in compliance with the ADEQ and USPHS standards. Operates a pumper truck to maintain septic tanks at all restrooms and vault toilets throughout the park
Performs functional maintenance and repairs to various types of above- and below- ground pipe materials, connection systems, valves, clamps, gauges, meters, electrical motors, pumps, chemical feeders, auxiliary generators, and related devices
Will be responsible for researching and order materials to maintain water and wastewater system
Ability to perform laboring duties that require moderate to heavy physical effort and lift 50 pounds as part of operation and repair work, ability to use and maintain plumbing and hand tools

Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication
Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males
Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program
You will be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties; a valid driver's license is required
You must possess and maintain a current Water Treatment and Distribution Operators Certificates
You must be able to secure and maintain a valid Arizona Department of Environmental Quality Level 1 Water Treatment Operators Certificate and Level 2 Distribution Operators Certificate
You must possess and maintain a current Wastewater Treatment and Collection Operators Certificate
You must be able to secure and maintain a valid Arizona Department of Environmental Quality Level 1 Wastewater Treatment Operators Certificate and Level 1 Wastewater Collection Operators Certificate
You may be required to travel overnight away from home up to 2 nights per month
You may be required to complete training and obtain/maintain a government charge card with travel and/or purchase authority
Applicants must be at least (1) 18 years old or (2) at least 16 years old and have graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school; or have completed a formal vocational training program; or have received a statement from school authorities agreeing with their preference for employment rather than continuing their education; or be currently enrolled in a secondary school and either work only during school vacation periods or work part-time during the school year under a formal student employment program
You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards
You may be required to work overtime
You must have a current Arizona Department of Environmental Quality Level 1 Water Treatment Operator Certificate
You must have a current Arizona Department of Environmental Quality Level 2 Water Distribution Operator Certificate
You must have a current Arizona Department of Environmental Quality Level 1 Wastewater Collection Operator Certificate
You must have a current Arizona Department of Environmental Quality Level 1 Wastewater Treatment Operators Certificate
Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision (SCREEN OUT)
