InternNugent Sand Company, located in Norton Shores, MI, is the leader in industrial lake sand. They are currently looking for a temporary Maintenance Intern to assist with routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on plant equipment and mobile machinery while developing practical skills in the mining operations.

Responsibilities
Assist with routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on plant equipment and mobile machinery
Support preventative maintenance programs to reduce downtime and improve reliability
Help troubleshoot mechanical issues under the guidance of experienced technicians
Maintain clean, organized work areas and follow all safety procedures
Learn to read and interpret mechanical drawings and blueprints
Follow MSHA safety standards, including proper Lockout/Tagout procedures
Maintain a safety-first mindset and consistent use of required PPE
Work outdoors in varying weather conditions typical of a mining environment
Communicate equipment issues to the maintenance team and help maintain records, parts inventory, and tools
Perform other related tasks as assigned
Qualification
Required
Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a technical school, trade program, or engineering-related program (mechanical, industrial, or similar preferred)
Interest in mechanical systems, heavy equipment, or industrial maintenance
Willingness to work outdoors and in an industrial environment
Strong work ethic, curiosity, and a desire to learn
Ability to follow instructions and work safely as part of a team
Able to wear proper PPE including steel toe shoes and safety glasses
Preferred
Basic mechanical knowledge or hands-on experience is a plus, but not required
