Responsibilities
Lead a critical sustainability initiative to establish a closed-loop acetonitrile recycling process for reducing our platform process’s carbon footprint
Utilize Dynochem to develop thermodynamic models and simulate multi-component distillation
Define the critical operating parameters and ranges necessary for optimal solvent recovery and purity
Execute laboratory-scale distillation runs to validate the Dynochem simulations and produce recycled solvent batches
Determine solvent composition with GC
Operate reactors and troubleshoot deviations to ensure the process is robust for manufacturing scale-up
Perform 3-4 iterative synthesis cycles with the recycled acetonitrile used for non-critical steps
Track trace impurity growth and product quality across these iterations using HPLC and MS
Determine feasibility of a circular solvent system without compromising medication safety or efficacy
Qualification
Required
Must be a current student enrolled at an accredited college or university pursuing at least a bachelor's degree
Strong academic record with a preferred cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
Conscientious self-starter with good organizational skills, project management skills and attention to detail
Ability to balance multiple projects and priorities, must be able to multi-task
Strong interpersonal communication and ability to collaborate with teams; must effectively operate independently, across functional lines, and with internal customers
Demonstrated personal initiative, self-motivation, flexibility, adaptability and willingness to learn
Proficient in Microsoft Office Tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc
Preferred
An in progress undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline preferred
