Assistant Team Lead Heavy Assembly

The Assistant Team Lead Heavy Assembly will support the Assembly Team Lead in coordinating daily assembly operations, ensuring production targets and safety requirements are met while providing technical guidance and hands-on support to technicians.

Responsibilities
Support the Assembly Team Lead in managing day‑to‑day assembly activities on the floor
Allocate tasks to assembly technicians based on position/skill level, workflow, and production schedule
Ensure all assembly operations follow established procedures, technical drawings, and torque specifications
Monitor progress on machine builds and escalate issues impacting production timelines
Perform in‑process inspections and functional checks to confirm assembly accuracy
Assist with root‑cause analysis on quality deviations or build issues
Ensure technicians follow rework instructions and corrective actions
Provide hands‑on technical support for complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical assembly tasks
Train new assembly technicians in safe work practices, assembly methods, and proper tool usage
Troubleshoot build problems and coordinate with repair/engineering or quality departments as needed
Promote a safe work environment by enforcing PPE, lockout/tagout, and safety protocols
Conduct safety checks and report hazards or potential risks immediately
Ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards
Act as the point of contact when the Assembly Team Lead is absent
Provide daily updates on team performance, issues, and resource needs
Support positive team morale and coach team members to improve performance and efficiency
Qualification
Required
Experience in construction equipment assembly, heavy machinery, or similar mechanical production environment
Strong understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
Ability to read technical drawings, schematics, and work instructions
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Experience with torque tools, hydraulic testing equipment, and electrical diagnostics
Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Ability to safely lift, push, and/or pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds and perform regular physical tasks using proper techniques
Comfortable working in small or confined spaces and tight loading areas while maintaining situational awareness
Ability to climb up, under, around, and over large equipment and work safely at heights of up to 30 feet in accordance with safety procedures
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Comfortable working outdoors year-round and in non-climate-controlled warehouses
A current, valid driver's license, with an insurable driving record, is required
