Evidence Analyst

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is looking to hire an organized, detail-oriented animal rights advocate to analyze and compile evidence gathered during field observations. The role involves drafting legal complaints and public education materials, requiring meticulous attention to detail and a systematic approach.

Responsibilities

Take ownership of and work multiple facets of field observations, including:
Review and log field observers' notes and identify and propose avenues of pursuing violations and other items of potential interest
View, carefully listen to and transcribe recordings, and catalog incidents for use in complaints and/or publication
Independently assess evidence for violations of laws and regulations and draft detailed complaints to various agencies
Coordinate and lead internal and external meetings, including with public officials and humane agents, related to the public release of field observations
Perform a variety of writing, research, and administrative tasks in preparation for the public release of field observations
Initiate research and interpretation of a variety of animal-protection issues in order to further field observations
Maintain strict confidentiality at all times
Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor

Required

Degree in a related field and a minimum of three years of relevant experience
Thorough knowledge of animal rights issues and PETA campaigns
Demonstrated ability to transcribe audio recordings and describe contents of video recordings accurately
Proven meticulous attention to detail and excellent analytical and editing skills
Proven ability to conduct in-depth legal and other research
Proven exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated ability to make sound, independent judgments
Proven excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle many issues simultaneously
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality at all times
Professional appearance and adherence to a healthy vegan lifestyle
Willingness and ability to travel
Must be at least 21 years of age and have a valid U.S. drivers' license, a minimum of three years of driving experience, and a satisfactory driving record
Support for PETA's philosophy and the ability to professionally advocate PETA's position on issues
Commitment to the objectives of the organization
