Summer High School Research Intern - Surface Mass Spectrometry Data Analysis

Responsibilities
The high school intern will focus on analysis of the data generated from advanced surface characterization techniques, including Time-of-Flight Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry (ToF-SIMS) and X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS), to understand chemical changes occurring on aluminide and stainless-steel surfaces
Qualification
Required
Applicants must be currently enrolled as a sophomore, junior or senior in a public or private high school at time of application
Applicants must be 16 years of age by start date
Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher (from beginning of 9th grade to current standing)
Preferred
Basic knowledge of mass spectrometry, particularly secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS)
Understanding of Time-of-Flight Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry (ToF-SIMS) data analysis
Completion of basic coursework in Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, and/or Engineering
Proficiency with basic office software (e.g., Microsoft Word, PowerPoint)
Experience with common data analysis tools, such as: MATLAB, Origin, Python
