The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is dedicated to enriching the environment and protecting public health for New Yorkers. They are seeking an Engineering Drainage & Modeling Intern to assist with drainage analysis and develop plans for storm sewer systems, contributing to solutions for urban flooding.

Responsibilities
Perform drainage analysis using NYCs InfoWorks hydraulic sewer model or traditional design criteria
Develop plans for a High Level Storm Sewer System to integrate with a Bluebelt project
Work within the team to come up with creative solutions to drainage problems resulting in flooding in the City
Develop a final presentation to display assignments they have been involved with while working as an intern at the DEP Interns Closing Ceremony
Qualification
Required
As of June of the Program year the prospective intern must be a student matriculated in a college or be a recent college graduate (winter/spring term of the Program year)
Preferred
Student must currently be enrolled at a college/university at the undergraduate level majoring in civil, environmental, or mechanical engineering
Student must have at least a 2.5 GPA (on a 4.0 scale)
Student must have at least a junior class standing
Familiarity and/or experience with Microsoft Office suite is preferred
Proficient in ArcGIS or have a strong interest in working with spatial data and GIS and should have a general understanding of hydraulic analysis
Strong writing skills effective interpersonal skills
Leadership skills self-motivation and ability to work well with minimal supervision
