Transportation Operations Analysis & Development, Emerging Talent Intern

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority is seeking an Emerging Talent Intern for their Transportation Operations Analysis & Development team. The intern will gain hands-on experience in transit operations, data analysis, and service management initiatives, supporting the improvement of bus service across NYC.

Responsibilities

Creating reporting tools to support operational decision-making and improve bus performance
Developing and enhancing applications to streamline the workflows of Bus Command Center Supervisors (e.g., using PowerApps)
Validating datasets to ensure accuracy, consistency, and integrity
Documenting processes and mapping workflows to support digital transformation efforts
Assisting with the analysis of bus service performance trends and identifying recurring operational issues using available data and dashboards
Supporting user testing and feedback collection for new or enhanced digital tools used by the Bus Command Center and Road Operations staff
Preparing presentation materials, summaries, and visualizations to communicate findings and recommendations to supervisors and managers
Collaborating with cross-functional teams (Operations, MTAIT, Data & Analytics) to support pilot initiatives and continuous improvement efforts

Required

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is a must
The candidate should possess organizational, analytical and communication skills
The candidate should be able to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively
The candidate should have a keen eye for detail and be able to work independently while being an active team player
Familiarity or coursework in computer programming, data analytics, or application development
Interest in public transit, operations, or technology-driven process improvement
Matriculated in an undergraduate program in good standing with at least 2.5 GPA AND/OR matriculated in a graduate program in good standing with at least 2.8 GPA
