The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) enriches the environment and protects public health for all New Yorkers. They are seeking a Project Manager Intern for the Wastewater Capital Program, where the intern will assist with project management tasks, supervision of construction work, and preparation of technical reports under the guidance of Senior Engineers.
Environmental Services

Responsibilities

Perform elementary project management work
Assist with supervision of construction work at the Hunts Point and Wards Island Wastewater Resource Recovery Facilities
Monitoring consultant and contractor performance
Coordinating and implementing the design and construction of capital projects
Assist with the evaluation of technical issues, design alternatives, and/or proposals
Prepare technical reports and scopes of work for engineering projects
Develop a final presentation to display assignments they have been involved with while working as an intern at the DEP Interns Closing Ceremony

Required

As of June of the Program year the prospective intern must be a student matriculated in a college or be a recent college graduate (winter/spring term of the Program year)

Preferred

Student must currently be enrolled at a college/university at the undergraduate level majoring in construction management, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical or other engineering majors
Student must have at least a 2.5GPA (on a 4.0 scale)
Student must have at least a junior class standing
Familiarity and/or experience with reading / reviewing construction drawings and specifications, CSI divisions, concept of quantity takeoffs, prevailing wage & labor benefits, standard construction materials & methods
Familiarity and/or experience with computers/software such as AutoCAD and/or Civil3D, and Microsoft Office suite is preferred
Technical aptitude, quantitative and analytical skills, attention to detail, effective interpersonal skills
Self-motivation and ability to work well with minimal supervision
