Mechanical Maritime Engineer (Project Engineer)
Advantage Technical is seeking a Mechanical Maritime Engineer to work between their Maryland office and offshore locations. The role involves managing engineering and design activities, collaborating with various departments, and providing leadership to junior staff in the marine industry.

Independently manage engineering and design activities and report to the Project Manager
Monitor progress and ensure the technical soundness of design solutions
Collaborate with all departments to support manufacturing, integration, and testing, and provide leadership to junior staff
Qualification
Required
Bachelors in Ocean or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution
Experience in the marine industry, fielding shipboard systems and associated technologies
A minimum of two years of management experience leading multidisciplinary design teams
Five to ten years of technical experience in engineering processes, including concept development, analysis, design, drawing, integration, and testing of complex mechanical or ocean-deployed systems
Independently manage engineering and design activities and report to the Project Manager
Monitor progress and ensure the technical soundness of design solutions
Collaborate with all departments to support manufacturing, integration, and testing
Provide leadership to junior staff
Required skills include industrial automation and controls, with emphasis on hydraulic, pneumatic, and electromechanical systems
Familiarity with maritime port operations, crane operations, cargo handling, and shipboard equipment
Experience in maritime, crane, hydraulics, or controls
Hands-on skills in assembling mechanical components
Strong technical judgment, creativity, and initiative, consistently maintaining attention to detail and a system-level perspective in your work
Strong communication, organizational, and technical writing skills
Ability to clearly document, explain, and present engineering concepts and products to both team members and customers
Experience in the marine industry, particularly with shipboard systems and related technologies
Hands-on abilities for assembling mechanical components
Proficient in current engineering software such as SolidWorks and MATLAB, as well as Microsoft Office
Able to apply advanced knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, practices, and procedures, with an understanding of related engineering fields
Collaborate with electrical, software, and systems engineers, as well as other disciplines, to solve problems and design effective systems
Take responsibility for results, work independently, and seek assistance when needed
Preferred
Experience in maritime or subsea engineering
Knowledge of US Navy underway replenishment operations
