The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) enriches the environment and protects public health for all New Yorkers. The Drinking Water Operations Engineering Intern will be involved in various office and field-based projects related to water treatment equipment maintenance and capital improvements.
Environmental Services

Responsibilities

Perform site inspections, update AutoCAD drawings, research equipment specifications, document findings, and compile engineering information for operational reports
Assist the Engineering group with various tasks associated with service contract preparation including equipment specification, drawings, and cost estimates
Develop a final presentation to display assignments they have been involved with while working as an intern at the DEP Interns Closing Ceremony

Required

As of June of the Program year the prospective intern must be a student matriculated in a college or be a recent college graduate (winter/spring term of the Program year)
Appointment to this title is only valid for the duration of the Program, June - August each year

Preferred

Student must currently be enrolled at a college/university at the undergraduate level majoring in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering
Student must have at least a 2.5GPA (on a 4.0 scale)
Knowledge of engineering drawings and concepts
Familiarity and/or experience with computers/software including spreadsheets, databases, and Autodesk AutoCAD
Strong writing skills
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Familiarity or experience with MS Office suite
Leadership skills including self motivation and ability to work well independently and with others, with minimal supervision and a willingness to learn
