The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) enriches the environment and protects public health for all New Yorkers. They are seeking a Business Analyst Intern to assist with analytical projects and support the Office of Performance and Program Management in identifying opportunities for business improvement.
Environmental Services

Responsibilities

Analyzing quantitative data across the agency, including operational key performance indicators and budget documents
Gathering and documenting business requirements, analyze and formulate recommendations for business process improvements, execute business process redesign
Managing large data sets, execute data analytics, and formulate key findings and recommendations to drive strategic decision-making
Synthesizing information from staff across the organization into compelling, data-driven narratives that support strategic business improvement opportunities
Creation of Process Maps and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), for current and target states
Preparing agendas for meetings and recording and tracking follow up action points across the organization
Supporting the implementation of AI technologies to optimize working practices
Creating communications and training materials for specific project activity, as required
Managing special strategic projects that support a culture of continuous improvement
Develop a final presentation to display assignments they have been involved with while working as an intern at the DEP Interns Closing Ceremony

Qualification

Required

Candidates must be currently enrolled in a graduate degree program in an accredited college, university or law school

Preferred

Demonstrate excellent quantitative assessment of technical and complex material, critical thinking, and an aptitude for providing analysis under tight deadlines
Display strong communication skills, both written and oral
Excel in a team-oriented environment develop strong, collaborative relationships with superiors, peers and enjoy working across disciplines and boundaries
Manage his or her own time to successfully complete a project
Experience working in an analytical role, engaged in business analysis/research
Competency in the Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint, Visio and PowerBI
Advanced Excel and data analytics skills
Database skills such as Access
Lean Six Sigma or Project Management certification
