Composite Repair Technician (Aviation Composites)

Responsibilities
Surface preparation and damage removal, including scarf prep per approved data
Wet layup/hand layup repairs with correct ply orientation and contour restoration
Honeycomb core removal/replacement and bonding tasks
Cure control (room-temperature and oven cures when required); verify/document time/temperature
Trim/finish operations (routing, drilling, sanding, deburr/fill)
Accurate work order documentation and traceability (material certs, batch/lot) where required
Follow SDS/PPE/environmental controls; organized work area; support continuous improvement
Work strictly to approved technical data and controlled work instructions
Complete travelers/work orders/routers accurately and in real time
Follow inspection checkpoints/hold points and work effectively with Quality
Discrepancies/nonconformances: stop, escalate, document, and disposition before proceeding
Tool calibration awareness and recordkeeping where required
Contamination prevention and FOD control; disciplined surface prep
Environmental controls when required (temperature/humidity per approved data)
Material control where required: batch/lot, shelf life, out-time, pot life, and mix ratio method (weight/volume as applicable)
Consumables control (release film/peel ply/bleeder/breather/solvents as applicable)
Cure control: verify/document time and temperature as required
Qualification
Required
HS diploma or GED
2+ years hands-on composite repair experience (Part 145/OEM/military)
Ability to interpret technical data and follow approved processes
Strong documentation habits and traceability mindset
Able to lift up to 50 lb; standing/kneeling/crouching/overhead work
Able to pass pre-employment and random drug screening
Preferred
FAA-recognized composite training/certificate, A&P, or equivalent military composites background
Eligibility to obtain FAA Repairman Certificate for composite structures (as applicable)
Experience working in regulated aviation environments with strong inspection/compliance standards
