2026-ODHR-003-Strategic Workforce Planning Intern

The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) enriches the environment and protects public health for all New Yorkers. In this position, the College Intern will support Strategic Workforce Planning initiatives and provide cross-functional support to Employee Engagement & Wellness and Digital Media efforts.
Environmental Services

Responsibilities

Assist with data tracking and preparation for periodic reports such as New Hire Orientation Reports, Exit Reports, and unit metrics
Support the preparation of presentations
Help document basic process workflows and unit materials
Assist with employee engagement and wellness initiatives by supporting event coordination
Preparation of materials for employee programs
Contribute to digital communications by helping update and format content
Distributing communications as needed
Develop a final presentation to display assignments they have been involved with while working as an intern at the DEP Interns Closing Ceremony

Required

As of June of the Program year the prospective intern must be a student matriculated in a college or be a recent college graduate (winter/spring term of the Program year)

Preferred

Student must currently be enrolled at a college or university at the undergraduate level with a minimum 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale)
Strong analytical and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Exposure to Canva, Power BI and Visio a plus, or willingness to learn new tools
Strong writing skills
Effective interpersonal skills
Familiarity and/or experience with computers/software
Leadership skills
Self-motivation and ability to work well with minimal supervision
