Epic/EHR Solutions Architect

Razor is looking for an Epic/EHR Solutions Architect who will serve as the technical lead and architectural owner for the implementation of Epic within a healthcare payer environment. This role is responsible for defining and governing the architectural blueprint, ensuring Epic is integrated into a cohesive, interoperable healthcare ecosystem.

Responsibilities

Own and maintain the solution architecture blueprint for Epic implementation across payer workflows
Define architectural standards, patterns, and guardrails to ensure consistency and long-term maintainability
Review and approve design decisions to prevent point-to-point integrations and technical debt
Serve as the primary technical authority for Epic-related architecture decisions
Ensure Epic interoperability aligns with enterprise integration and interoperability strategy
Design and govern integrations using FHIR-based APIs, HL7, and industry standards
Partner with the FHIR platform team to ensure Epic integrations leverage reusable, API-first patterns
Guide teams away from tightly coupled integrations toward service-oriented, loosely coupled design
Understand how Epic fits within the broader healthcare payer ecosystem, including claims, eligibility, provider data, care management platforms, member engagement tools, and analytics
Translate healthcare business requirements into scalable technical solutions aligned with payer operations
Ensure solutions support regulatory and compliance needs (CMS, interoperability rules, data privacy)
Act as the technical lead across vendors, system integrators, and internal delivery teams
Collaborate with enterprise architects, security, data, and platform teams for alignment
Provide hands-on architectural guidance throughout design, build, and implementation
Identify architectural risks early and recommend mitigation strategies

Required

Bachelor's Degree
8+ years of experience in solution or enterprise architecture, preferably in healthcare
Direct experience leading or architecting Epic implementations, ideally within a payer context
Strong understanding of interoperability standards (FHIR, HL7, APIs)
Experience designing API-first and platform-based integration architectures
Experience avoiding or remediating point-to-point integration anti-patterns
Ability to communicate complex architectural concepts to mixed technical audiences

Preferred

Experience with FHIR platforms
Knowledge of payer systems such as claims processing, utilization management, care management, or member services
Familiarity with cloud-based architectures and modern integration platforms
Experience working with large system integrators and managing vendor architectural deliverables
