Responsibilities
Manage and track assigned caseload of students, including providing necessary outreach
Provide timely follow-up on student/family inquiries and record all appointment notes (and other notes of importance) in EAB Navigate
Provide advice through the following formats: in-office advisement appointments and drop-ins, telephone, Zoom, e-mail, and as available, text or chat, including social media platforms such as Discord
Tactfully address difficult situations
Help students complete special petitions, such as Academic Withdrawals, Dismissal Appeals, NY State Aid Appeal Forms, etc
Support the Office of Academic Affairs Undergraduate Advising as needed, such as helping with new student registration, orientation, preparing and presenting seminar presentations, participating in recruitment events, and other activities/programs
Maintain appropriate/strict confidentiality of all student records (according to Federal, state, and local regulations)
Support UB’s academic advising assessment efforts, including completing applicable rubrics or questions via Navigate appointment summaries
Uphold a safe, positive environment through adherence to all university policies to help prevent workplace violence, sexual harassment/assault, and all forms of discrimination
Be knowledgeable about and abide by the standards of ethical conduct promulgated by the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA)
Be informed of UB’s Mission, Vision and Goals and also SEAS’ and assist with SEAS Goals and UB’s Top 25 Ambition
