Flight Simulator Mechanical Design Engineer (Solidworks)
netPolarity, Inc. is seeking a Flight Simulator Mechanical Design Engineer to design and improve mechanical parts for high-tech flight simulators. The role involves creating blueprints, supporting the production team, and collaborating with other teams to ensure design compatibility.
Responsibilities
Design, document, and support the mechanical systems used in the production of aviation simulators
Read aircraft manuals, help pick parts, create blueprints, and support the team that builds the simulators
Solve problems when designs don't work as expected and talk with other teams and vendors to keep things moving
Qualification
Required
Several years of experience designing from scratch (not just drafting or documentation)
Strong, hands-on SolidWorks experience (must be tangible and recent)
Ability to design physical components using provided data, photos, scans, and sometimes actual units
Example design work includes: Faceplates, switches, knobs, mounting plates and Simple assemblies (e.g., landing gear lever panels)
Will design part depth, dimensions, and interfaces, working closely with Electrical Engineers to ensure compatibility with EE components
Strong communication skills; collaborative team environment
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
3–5 years of mechanical design experience
Proficiency in SolidWorks 3D design software - looking for closer to 5 years of direct Solidworks experience
Proficiency in MS Word and Excel
Excellent communication skills
Experience with hand and power tools
Familiarity with precision measuring instruments
Preferred
Aerospace experience is a plus, but not required
Occasional travel required
