Corporate Financial Controller
Benchmark Insurance Group of Texas is a rapidly growing MGA/Retail brokerage that provides full-service real estate portfolio insurance and risk management solutions. They are seeking an experienced Corporate Controller to lead and optimize financial operations across multiple entities in the insurance, real estate, and construction sectors while building and managing a high-performing finance team.
Responsibilities
Oversee all financial activities, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting for multiple business units
Develop and implement internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures to optimize financial efficiency
Ensure compliance with GAAP, regulatory requirements, and industry-specific financial reporting (e.g., insurance trust accounts, real estate depreciation, construction cost tracking)
Lead month-end and year-end financial close processes, including reconciliations for multiple entities
Manage cash flow, working capital, and debt financing to optimize financial health
Develop KPI-driven financial reports to track profitability, cost efficiencies, and revenue growth across divisions
Implement automated accounting systems to streamline reporting for AMS360 (insurance), Appfolio (real estate), and Buildertrend/QuickBooks (construction)
Oversee commission tracking, agency bill payments, and direct bill reconciliations in AMS360
Develop and refine real estate property billing cycles for tenants, investors, and property management entities
Streamline construction job cost tracking, subcontractor payments, and project financial audits
Work closely with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with insurance carrier contracts, financial audits, and real estate investor reporting
Manage trust account reconciliations, policyholder premium tracking, and carrier payables
Optimize financial risk management strategies, including liability exposure, contract structuring, and tax planning
Lead and mentor a team of accountants, bookkeepers, and finance professionals across all business units
Build cross-functional collaboration with executives, sales teams, and operations managers to drive financial efficiencies
Enhance staff productivity metrics, linking financial performance with operational KPIs
Qualification
Required
10+ years of financial leadership experience in insurance, real estate, or construction
Deep understanding of insurance brokerage accounting (AMS360), real estate portfolio management (Appfolio), and construction job costing (Buildertrend/QuickBooks)
Strong financial modeling, forecasting, and budgeting skills
Experience managing trust accounting, multi-entity reconciliations, and commission structures
Advanced proficiency in GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
Ability to negotiate with vendors, carriers, and financial institutions to optimize cost savings
Proven track record of team leadership, process automation, and technology implementation
Preferred
CPA, CMA, or CFA preferred
Ability to relocate before starting work (Preferred)
