The California Department of Developmental Services provides services to individuals with developmental disabilities. They are seeking a Research Data Specialist I to perform fiscal research and data analytics activities, contributing to budget impact modeling and dashboard development.

Responsibilities

Supports the Fiscal Decision Support Unit under general direction of the Research Data Supervisor II
Performs a range of professional fiscal research and data analytics activities
Contributing to cost containment analyses, budget impact modeling, and ongoing dashboard development
Assists in integrating fiscal and program data
Preparing visual and written analyses
Supporting the development of staff capacity in fiscal data interpretation through the department’s Data Task Force

Required

Candidates must be residents of the State of California at the time of appointment
This position requires lawful authorization to work in the United States
Strong quantitative and analytical skills
Proficiency in SQL, R/Python, EXCEL for data manipulation
Familiarity with data visualization platforms (Python/Power BI/Tableau)
Understanding of fiscal data structures, cost analysis, and performance measurement
Ability to work collaboratively in a data-driven environment
Good knowledge of source code version control system such as Git
The Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) must be numbered in the same order as the following areas, typed in 12-point Arial font, single spaced, and be no more than two pages in length
