MECHANICAL ENGINEER
Air Force Civilian Service is seeking a Full-Time Mechanical Engineer to work at Air Force Materiel Command. The role involves serving as a technical expert in mechanical systems and subsystems of aircraft, providing technical leadership and management in design, development, and operational responsibilities.

Serve as a senior professional mechanical engineer with project management, execution, and operational responsibility in assigned area(s)
Considered the technical expert for the organization in engineering assignments concerning mechanical systems and subsystems of aircraft, as well as the mechanical mechanisms and/or components of related subsystems
Provide technical leadership and management in activities involved in the design, development, commission, manufacture, operation, maintenance, and disposal of mechanical devices, systems, their equipment, and/or components
Guide and evaluate the design and development activities of others

U.S. Citizenship
Obtain & maintain a Security clearance
The employee may be required to travel on military and commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty
An engineering degree at the bachelor's level from an institution with an ABET accredited program in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field is highly desired
The work may require the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver's license may be required for the position
Knowledge of professional mechanical engineering concepts, principles, practices, standards, methods, techniques, materials, and equipment to effectively apply advanced engineering theories, principles, and concepts to project development, execution, and advisory services
Knowledge of development testing and evaluation sufficient to apply experimental theories and/or new applications to issues and provide technical advice and direction in support of aircraft mechanical systems, subsystems, devices, and/or equipment
Knowledge of integrated air-vehicles, ground systems, and support equipment sufficient to plan, design, test, troubleshoot, evaluate, and oversee the development and/or sustainment of mechanical systems or devices
Knowledge of the principles of planning and program management; standard acquisition regulations, practices, and procedures; other engineering disciplines; and computer aided design and drafting (CADD) programs and other software such as information management and project tracking programs
Ability to devise and evaluate criteria, parameters, characteristics, and interrelationships for design approaches and to assess the impact of new technology on current systems and processes
