AI System Developer II
Tallgrass Energy is seeking an AI System Developer II to focus on the design, development, integration, and support of AI-enabled solutions. The role involves delivering production-grade model serving, inference pipelines, and orchestration, while enabling rapid application development through AI-assisted tools.
Energy
Responsibilities
Design, implement, and maintain AI system components: model serving APIs, orchestration (agents/call flows), inference pipelines, and microservices
Implement integrations between LLMs/AI services and enterprise applications (internal portals, chatbots, workflow automation)
Translate business requirements into technical specifications, flow diagrams, and implementation plans
Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate Rapid Application Development (RAD): generate code scaffolding, templates, unit-test stubs, and documentation to speed safe, repeatable delivery
Implement retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) solutions using vector stores and knowledge indexes
Work with Data & Analytics to define, access, and prepare AI-ready datasets; ensure data quality, lineage, and appropriate transformations
Package AI components using containerization (Docker) and support deployment automation (Kubernetes, serverless patterns)
Contribute to CI/CD pipelines for model and service delivery; implement model versioning and model registry practices (MLflow, model registry)
Apply company AI governance guardrails: data minimization, PII handling, prompt filtering, content moderation, and privacy/security best practices
Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, and Security to implement controls needed for regulatory frameworks and internal policy adherence
Build explainability, logging for auditability, and reproducible evaluation artifacts
Write unit, integration, and acceptance tests for AI components and APIs; validate outputs against acceptance criteria
Participate in release planning, deployment verification, and post-deployment monitoring; provide on-call support as required
Troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement fixes or mitigations
Create and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, user guides, and API docs for engineers and business users
Support business stakeholders with training, demos, and adoption playbooks (assistant tool usage, agent behaviors)
Contribute to a Center of Excellence knowledge base: patterns, templates, and reusable components to accelerate RAD and cross-team reuse
Keep current with LLM, generative AI, and MLOps best practices; recommend improvements and reusable patterns (playbooks, agent templates)
Work effectively across multi-disciplinary teams and present technical details to non-technical stakeholders
Collaborate with a variety of people with tact, courtesy, and professionalism
Maintain regular, dependable attendance and a high level of performance
Maintain a high regard for personal safety, the safety of company assets and employees, and the general public
Other daily, weekly, monthly, or special projects may be assigned
