Project Controls Engineer
MARRS Services, Inc. is a premier civil engineering and construction management firm engaged in major public works projects throughout Southern California. They are seeking a detail-oriented Project Controls Engineer to support project planning, scheduling, cost control, and performance monitoring for major civil infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities
Develop, maintain, and update project schedules using critical path method (CPM) scheduling techniques
Monitor and analyze project performance metrics including cost, schedule variance, and earned value
Prepare and maintain project cost estimates, budgets, and financial forecasts
Track and report on project progress, milestones, and key performance indicators (KPIs)
Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and field staff to collect and analyze project data
Review and process change orders, tracking impacts to cost and schedule
Prepare monthly progress reports, cost reports, and executive dashboards
Analyze contractor schedules and payment applications for compliance with contract requirements
Identify schedule conflicts, critical path activities, and potential delays
Develop recovery schedules and mitigation strategies for schedule impacts
Support project planning activities including resource allocation and look-ahead planning
Maintain project controls documentation and ensure data accuracy
Assist in the preparation of project forecasts and trend analysis
Participate in project meetings and provide project controls expertise
Utilize project management software systems for data tracking and reporting
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
Minimum of 5 years of experience in project controls, scheduling, or cost engineering
Proficiency in scheduling software such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project
Strong understanding of critical path method (CPM) scheduling
Experience with earned value management (EVM) principles
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions and pivot tables
Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and contracts
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Valid California Class C driver's license
Preferred
Experience with civil infrastructure projects including roadways, utilities, or airport facilities
Knowledge of public works construction and bidding processes
Familiarity with project management software such as PMWeb, e-Builder, or similar platforms
Experience working on projects within public right-of-way
Knowledge of local agency requirements and regulations
Professional certification (PMI-SP, PSP, or similar)
Experience with cost management software such as SAP, Oracle, or similar systems
