Responsibilities
Analyze and evaluate legislative and regulatory proposals to assess potential impacts on businesses operating in California
Meet with legislators and legislative and executive branch staff to communicate the client’s positions on proposed legislation and regulations
Draft support and opposition letters to legislators, legislative committees, and regulatory agencies
Provide testimony at legislative and regulatory hearings on behalf of the client as needed
Identify, coordinate, and assist representatives from affected businesses to testify at hearings
Plan and support internal policy committee meetings and deliver presentations as required
Author articles and written materials for client publications
Respond to inquiries from members and external stakeholders regarding legislative and regulatory issues
Serve as a point of contact for media inquiries on applicable legislative and regulatory matters
Speak to stakeholder groups and external audiences on relevant policy issues
Qualification
Required
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree strongly preferred
8–10 years of experience working on recycling, product regulation, and housing policy issues
Strong written and oral communication skills
Experience with public speaking and stakeholder engagement
Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills
Strong interpersonal skills
