The City of Naperville is seeking an Undergraduate Intern for their Civil/Environmental Engineering and Construction Management department. This internship offers students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in both office and field work related to municipal engineering projects during the summer months.

Responsibilities

Work primarily in the field observing the construction of large-scale projects
Aid in the drafting of drawings (using AutoCAD) and their upgrades
Collect data using GPS equipment for the upgrade and maintenance of city GIS systems
Supervise construction performed by contractors
Other duties as assigned

Required

Candidate must be currently enrolled in a college-accredited curriculum in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Construction Management or a related field
A basic understanding of engineering concepts and materials, including concrete and asphalt (training will be provided)
Strong oral and written communication skills; and experience with Word and Excel
Be at least 18 years of age
Have a valid State of Illinois Class D Driver's License. Applicants should possess a driving history with no moving violations for at least the last twelve (12) months
Please note: children, stepchildren, or grandchildren of City employees or City Council members are not eligible to apply
Any offer of employment will be contingent upon a pre-employment / post-offer drug screen

Preferred

Experience with AutoCAD and GIS is a plus
