Summer High School Research Intern – AI enabled imaging workflows
Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) is a world-class research institution focused on scientific research and innovation. They are seeking a high school intern for a summer research program to work with senior researchers on transforming data for AI analysis and learning about optical and electron microscopy.

Responsibilities
Work with senior researchers on transforming existing data to AI ready data for analysis
Work in a collaborative team environment
Learn and interpret optical and electron microscopy images for labeling
Prepare report and share with the group
Qualification
Required
Applicants must be currently enrolled as a sophomore, junior or senior in a public or private high school at time of application
Applicants must be 16 years of age by start date
Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher (from beginning of 9th grade to current standing)
Preferred
High school courses in Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics (AP/Honors preferred)
Knowledge of Python Coding. Basic awareness of AI tools
Able to work in a collaborative team environment
Able to interpret and work with optical and electron microscopy images for labeling the data
Good written and verbal communication skills and familiarity with PowerPoint presentations
