Financial Aid Officer

Responsibilities
Conduct detailed student interviews to assess financial needs and determine eligibility for federal/state grants, loans, and VA benefits
Package financial aid awards, complete verification for ISIRs, and ensure 100% compliance with DOE, VA, and institutional policies
Provide hands-on assistance with FAFSA completion, payment plans, and complex documentation (citizenship status, Pell overpayments, and default resolutions)
Partner with the Admissions team to resolve student no-shows, track funding status, and ensure a seamless start for every cohort
Audit student files with precision, update institutional financials, and document all aid disbursements accurately
Qualification
Required
3+ years of experience in a Financial Aid office environment
Proven expertise in federal student aid programs, including grants and loans
Proficiency with DOE systems (NSLDS, COD, etc.), Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace
Solid understanding of VA benefits and institutional packaging policies
High School Diploma or GED required
Preferred
Associate degree or higher preferred
