Panasonic Avionics Corporation is a leader in delivering inflight entertainment products. The Senior Software Engineer will research, develop, and maintain software systems for secure data transfer and lead the architectural design of digital applications and data platforms.
Responsibilities
Lead end-to-end design for global media workflows, targeted advertising platforms, and OTA delivery systems. Develop strategic implementation plans for distributed and cloud-integrated systems
Author Architecture Decision Records (ADRs), functional block diagrams, and data/logic flowcharts. Translate complex system specifications into secure, modular, and scalable software
Code, test, and refine software—primarily in Golang—to improve performance, reliability, and bandwidth efficiency in constrained or unreliable network environments
Architect secure data pipelines using socket programming and Pub/Sub models. Ensure all designs meet rigorous security, encryption, and performance requirements
Drive strategic system migration and modernization initiatives, including the adoption of AWS cloud-native architectures and containerized workloads
Act as a mentor and source of information for the engineering team. Lead multi-functional teams to achieve positive results for complex, multi-dimensional projects
Provide technical guidance on build vs. buy decisions, vendor integrations, and the business impact of digital innovation to executive leadership
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
10+ years of software development and architecture experience, including extensive work with Linux-based applications
Proven track record in high-scale digital platforms (e.g., media distribution, e-commerce, or data-intensive systems)
Expert-level proficiency in Golang or similar modern systems programming languages
Mastery of AWS services, cloud-native architectures, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
Deep understanding of microservices, APIs, event-driven architectures, and distributed client-server behavior
Comprehensive understanding of TCP, UDP, IP, HTTP, HTTPS, DHCP, DNS, and multicast/IGMP
Proficiency with iptables, IP routing, VLAN, Ethernet, and PHY technologies
Prior experience in socket programming and PUB/SUB architecture
Familiarity with network security methodologies, encryption, and secure data transfer mechanisms for data-intensive systems
Ability to resolve complex problems involving performance, reliability, and distributed system behavior
Highly proficient in technical approach development, resource allocation, and scheduling for multiple complex projects
Demonstrated expertise in engineering communication, including the ability to engage with senior internal stakeholders and external airline customers
Ability to travel to domestic or international locations as required, up to 10% of the time
Preferred
Experience with aviation, IFE, or high-reliability systems is a plus
