Responsibilities

Contribute to continuous product improvement through analysis, testing, and design enhancements
Develop mechanical designs and concepts for tools and equipment, supporting implementation from concept to production
Maintain accurate records of daily engineering activities and report to the Mechanical Engineering Manager and Lead Mechanical Engineer
Prepare engineering drawings, analyses, and documentation in accordance with quality and project standards
Support other departments with engineering input to transfer product knowledge within Phoenix Technology Services
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support engineering initiatives and troubleshoot design challenges
Ensure all work complies with the Company’s Quality System, HSE standards, and engineering best practices

Required

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited institution
2–5 years of relevant mechanical design engineering experience
Member of TBPELS in good standing or eligible for licensing in Texas as a Mechanical Engineer
Proficiency in SolidWorks, including stress and basic fluid analysis tools
Strong drafting skills and knowledge of GD&T
Solid understanding of mechanical systems, including stress analysis, material selection, and performance under high-pressure, high-temperature, and high-vibration conditions
Experience with revision control platforms, preferably SW-PDM Vault
Ability to revise Technologists' and Draftsman's design work and drawings
Good understanding of machining and manufacturing processes
Strong documentation, written communication, and interpersonal skills
Quick learner with a proactive work ethic and strong problem-solving skills
Highly organized, detail-oriented, with a focus on design quality and process discipline
Mechanical Design: 5 years (Required)
Location: Houston, TX 77066 (Required)
Ability to Commute: Houston, TX 77066 (Required)

Preferred

Design experience with MWD / LWD and/or Mud Drilling Motors
Field experience in oil and gas drilling operations
Familiarity with intellectual property processes (patents, design registrations, etc.)
