1+ years expNEOGOV is seeking an IPM Technician to join the Missoula County Ecology/Extension Department. This seasonal position involves assisting with various vegetation and pest management projects, focusing heavily on backpack herbicide application and monitoring noxious weed sites.

Responsibilities
Monitors and inventories noxious weed sites, and mosquito breeding sites
Mixes, handles, and applies pesticides and herbicides
Maintains accurate treatment records, maps and safety equipment
Assists with implementing and monitoring re-vegetation projects
Assists in leading youth field trips including the Youth in Restoration Program
Assists with collecting, releasing, and monitoring biocontrol insects
Supports aquatic invasive species monitoring, treatments and surveys within both riparian and aquatic habitats
Works collaboratively with project leads to implement field work
Assists with mapping invasive species using GPS units and ArcGIS applications
Handles heavy materials on maintenance and repair projects
Operates handheld power equipment
Provides education and information to members of the public regarding noxious weeds
Perform routine maintenance of all application equipment and vehicles
Ability to work irregular shifts, including late nights and possible weekends
Qualification
Required
Requires twenty-four (24) college semester credits. Courses most applicable to the position will be in Ecology, Natural Resources, Biology, Botany or other plant sciences
Requires one year of experience working in a natural resource or plant science field
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Requires a valid Montana Driver's License
Must be able to obtain a pesticide applicators license
Must be able to drive a manual transmission vehicle
