GIS Engineer

They are seeking a motivated Market Development (GIS) Engineer to evaluate and design new markets for fiber network expansion, ensuring technical and operational viability while preparing market opportunity reports and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

Understand Cityside Fiber's core purpose and values and be passionate about what we do
Utilize mapping and design tools to organize addressing, conduct high level auto designs, and adjust engineering to produce budget-ready designs
Collect, organize, and analyze datasets including addressing, private communities, demographics, housing density, household income, and competitor presence
Serve as the primary administrator of geospatial data standards, particularly service location addressing, to ensure consistency and accuracy across all data within the Vetro platform
Prepare market opportunity reports and presentations for leadership, financial partners, and cross-functional teams
Support development of business cases, ROI models, and financial projections for new market entry
Use GIS and network datasets to identify optimal service areas, fiber routes, and cost-efficient build approaches
Collaborate with engineering, sales, and operations teams to align designs and research findings with deployment feasibility
Maintain databases and dashboards to track market development opportunities, pipeline projections, and ensure data consistency across platforms
Contribute to a culture of trust, integrity, and collaboration

Required

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent practical experience
3+ years of experience in fiber design, engineering, and GIS tools
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Ability to prioritize tasks and work under pressure
Strong analytical and quantitative skills; ability to interpret complex datasets and present clear insights
Proficiency with data analysis tools (Excel, Google Earth, SQL, GIS mapping, Tableau/Power BI preferred)
Excellent organizational skills; ability to multi-task and be highly responsive to internal and external clients
Demonstrated highest level of integrity, intellectual honesty, strong work ethic, and intense customer-first mindset
Takes initiative; plans efficiently while avoiding analysis paralysis
Sharp, analytical, and thoughtful
Consistent effort, intense commitment, and willingness to go above and beyond when needed
