Responsibilities

Operate assigned simulator devices to train all crewmember tasks outlined in Chapter Four of the applicable Aircraft Training Manual (ATM)
Present flight records and qualifications to the Battalion/AASF/Facility Standardization Instructor Pilot upon arrival at the unit
Provide I/O services sufficient to support 4–5 two‑hour training periods per day per simulator device, aligned with local command operating hours
Support administrative duties associated with scheduled simulator periods
Complete Government‑administered check rides in accordance with the ATM to certify proficiency in unit SOPs, tactics, and standards; deliver training within AR 95‑1 and ATM requirements
Capture training data through the IOS and contribute to After‑Action Reviews (AARs) per local procedures
Document pilot simulator hours on DA Form 2408‑12 after each flight for transcription into the device logbook
Report weekly device utilization metrics—including no‑shows, availability, scenario development time, and downtime—to the QAR
Serve as a RFMSS Fire Desk Operator, scheduling simulator periods within required timelines and closing out each training day promptly
Use the Instructor/Operator Manual (IOM) and associated reference materials for daily simulator operations; identify and report any required updates as part of monthly performance reporting

Required

High school diploma with 8 years of relevant experience, or a bachelor's degree with 4 years of experience
Qualification as an Instructor Pilot in the respective aircraft simulator and as an Instrument Flight Examiner, or a minimum of 3 years of documented experience as an Aviation Simulator I/O in the required device
Prior Army Aviation or military‑equivalent training or operational experience
USAACE/AATS‑qualified Instructor Pilot in the applicable airframe, or at least 3 years of I/O experience in the assigned device
Instructor Training Course (ITC) or ABIC qualification, or ability to complete an AATS‑provided ABIC course within 12 months of hire
Meets instructor qualification requirements as defined by the Aviation Proponent and in accordance with TR 350‑10 and TR 350‑70
Qualified as a unit trainer, instructor pilot, or maintenance test flight examiner with demonstrated simulator operations experience
USAACE‑qualified Instrument Flight Examiner
Ability to complete unit aircrew training within 3 months of hire if not already an instructor pilot, per AR 95‑1 and FR 350‑1
Ability to obtain and maintain a favorable background investigation or security clearance appropriate to the information accessed
