Cloud Engineer
Parsons Corporation is seeking a talented Cloud Engineer to join their team. In this role, you will serve as the primary technical advisor between the Missile Defense Agency's Modeling and Simulation Operations and the agency's IT and cloud service providers, translating user needs into measurable requirements and conducting evaluations of cloud solutions.

Responsibilities
Serve as the primary technical liaison between the M&S User communities and the IT service provider
Translate diverse M&S User needs—from real-time Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) testing to large-scale digital threat analysis—into specific, measurable requirements for enterprise IT services
Conduct deep technical evaluations of Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) solutions, analyzing performance, scalability, and suitability for M&S workloads. Areas include virtual machine performance, inter-node networking latency/throughput, high-performance storage solutions, and High-Performance Computing (HPC) cluster capabilities
Assess Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Software as a Service (SaaS) offerings against user requirements and industry best practices. Areas include: the software factory environment, CI/CD pipeline efficiency, Kubernetes/container platform implementation, API gateway functionality, and the catalog of available COTS tools
Author clear, concise, and technically robust evaluation reports that articulate the value, performance, and potential limitations of proposed solutions from the M&S User's perspective
Provide data-driven findings and recommendations to M&S Users to inform their adoption of, and integration with, enterprise services
Function as a key member of a DES cross-functional team, fostering collaboration and ensuring technical alignment between mission and infrastructure provider
Qualification
Required
U.S. Citizenship is required
Master's degree in STEM with 12+ years of relevant experience
Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance
Exceptional ability to communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences, from highly technical engineers to executives and other stakeholders
Demonstrated experience in a senior technical role such as Enterprise Architect, Cloud Architect, Solutions Architect, or Principal Systems Engineer
One or more professional cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA))
Strong knowledge of AWS and Azure distributed IT and cloud architecture principles, including microservices, service meshes, and event-driven architecture
Proven experience with core IaaS components: server virtualization (e.g., VMware, KVM), software-defined networking, and enterprise storage (SAN, NAS, Object)
Proven experience with core PaaS components: container orchestration (Kubernetes is essential) and CI/CD concepts and tooling (e.g., GitLab, Jenkins, ArgoCD)
Knowledge of DevSecOps principles and the integration of security into the software development lifecycle
Preferred
Active DoD Secret or Top-Secret clearance
Experience with DoD cloud environments (e.g., Cloud One, Platform One) and/or Intelligence Community (IC) cloud environments
Familiarity with the DoD Enterprise DevSecOps Reference Design and its implementation
Direct experience supporting M&S workloads, particularly in a distributed or High-Performance Computing (HPC) environment
Experience with high-performance interconnects and networking protocols relevant to simulation (e.g., InfiniBand, Data Distribution Service (DDS))
Experience with HPC technologies, including parallel file systems (e.g., Lustre, GPFS) and job schedulers (e.g., Slurm, PBS)
