Responsibilities
Lead product development efforts from concept, design, and prototyping through production release
Provide technical leadership in the design and processing of plastic components
Create, review, and release detailed design packages and full bills of material
Develop and analyze design data to ensure performance, compliance, and cost targets are met
Upgrade and maintain existing product lines
Develop test plans and coordinate third-party certifications
Design, build, and test prototypes for new product innovations
Create and manage project development plans and execute Engineering Change Notices (ECNs)
Collaborate closely with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams
Identify product non-conformances, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions
Support additional engineering initiatives as required
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master's preferred)
10+ years of hands-on plastics experience, including injection molding and structural foam molding
5+ years of experience using CREO/Windchill (other 3D CAD systems considered)
Strong background in plastic part design, prototyping, and product development
Experience leading projects from concept through production launch
Knowledge of tooling design and collaboration with third-party tool designers
Familiarity with Product Life Cycle Management (PLM), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and 3D printing
Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet aggressive deadlines
Preferred
FEA experience using CREO Simulate or ANSYS
Familiarity with industry standards such as Telcordia, TIA, SCTE, and FOA
Experience with FRP composite design and manufacturing
Fiber optics product experience (patch panels, splice trays)
Proficiency with MS Project, Visio, and Microsoft Office
