Responsibilities
Design and develop PowerBI dashboards, reports, and semantic models for the Firm’s Finance reporting
Partner with Finance, IT, and Firm leadership to gather requirements and translate business needs into scalable BI solutions
Build optimized data models using SQL, Power Query, and DAX
Ensure data accuracy, consistency, governance, and security in all reporting solutions
Optimize performance and dataset scalability
Document needs and the proposed solution(s)
Lead project and designated development person(s) to design and implement the solution
Work with members of other teams, primarily within the IT organization, to resolve technical problems that may arise
Handle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
Gather input and implement solutions across the organization
Develop process flow documentation
Design improved business processes and supporting systems to advance Finance’s goals and objectives
Develop test plans and lead user acceptance testing sessions
Work with various groups and levels in the organization to define their financial reporting requirements in an effort to advance the Firm’s reporting strategy
Create detailed specifications for custom dashboards/reports, inquiries and system modifications
Document requirements and design of custom dashboards/reports, inquiries and forms for financial systems.Manage the creation and testing of said reports, forms and inquiries
Develop custom dashboards/reports and inquiries
Provide support for users of the finance applications within the firm
Communicate Finance department needs with the IT department to ensure Finance department hardware and software requirements are met efficiently and effectively
Play a support role in financial system security set-up and maintenance (both front-office and back-office)
Assist in the coordination with vendors to resolve financial application issues
Qualification
Required
Must be an effective verbal and written communicator
Must be a self-starter, organized, creative, goal oriented and willing to take ownership of responsibilities and requests
Must be able to work independently with limited supervision
Must posse strong relationship management and listening skills
Must be able to handle stressful situations and mitigate/resolve conflict
Must have strong problem solving and analytic skills to research and provide solutions
Must be a strong team builder, an effective motivator and aware of the importance of attention to detail
Must have strong time management skills
Assist junior analyst where needed
Must possess a sound understanding of project management principles and methodologies including project scope, problem/change management, project estimating, project leadership, project management tools, project scheduling, project quality assurance, project reporting, project risk management and meeting management
Appropriate skills in working with relational databases, data validation and report writing software
Bachelor's degree
5 – 8 years' experience in a law firm or corporate environment preferred
Minimum three years' experience with relational databases, data validation, and report writing - SQL, Power BI or similar strongly preferred
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Minimum two years' experience in accounting or finance
Experience with large ERP (Aderant ERP system is a plus)
