SUPERVISORY ENGINEERING APPLICATION EDUCATION SPECIALIST

USAJOBS is seeking a Supervisory Engineering Application Education Specialist at the Air Force Institute of Technology. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a first level supervisor, providing planning, directing, organizing, and exercising control over nonsupervisory employees assigned to the Department of Professional Development.

Responsibilities

Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of the Civil Engineer School, ensuring that the Department of Professional Development complies with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer needs
Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities
Represents the Civil Engineer School with a variety of installation and functional area organizations
Periodically provides instruction in a classroom environment involving the Engineering Applications principles and practices as they exist within the Department of War

Selectee is expected to be granted with and/or maintain the appropriate security clearance required for the position
This position is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program
Employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, to include evenings, weekends and/or holidays
Disclosure of Political Appointments
May be required to travel away from the normal duty station by military or commercial aircraft or other modes of travel
This position meets the professional exemption criteria for the Fair Labor Standards Act (5 CFR 551.207)
Appointment is under Schedule B appointing authority, Excepted Appointment Not-to-Exceed 3 years and is renewable up to 3 years or an indefinite appointment
The appointment cannot be converted to a permanent tenure in the competitive service
Current Federal employees on a permanent or indefinite appointment may be required to have a minimum of 3-day break in service if selected
Permanent Change in Station (PCS) expenses are not authorized
This is not a drug testing designated position
Selectee may be required to serve a trial period
Relocation costs or other incentives may be available and considered by the organization
Successful completion of a degree from an accredited college or university that included or was supplemented by major study in Education OR in Engineering or an equivalent scientific field to include engineering or construction management appropriate to the position
Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in Education, or in a science or in Engineering or an equivalent scientific field to include engineering or construction management appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described in A above
At least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade (GS-13) level or equivalent pay band or equivalent in other pay system
Experience in Engineering Management AND experience in developing and/or presenting information in an adult learning or consultation environment (e.g. professional continuing education, college/university instruction, lessons-learned presentations, specialized techniques/process training, or professional advice/guidance to groups of peers or near-peers etc. which shows curriculum development and/or instruction)
Knowledge of the US Air Force Civil Engineer enterprise, its functional responsibilities, business practices, processes, rules, regulations, and policies and knowledge of education principles, practices, techniques, and procedures
Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures
Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium sized organization
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Ability to manage organizational resources to include money, manpower, time, method, supplies, space, etc
