Responsibilities

Directly develop a team of GN&C engineers. This includes being responsible for the people, processes, and tools crucial for best-in-class performance
Recruit, hire, and manager a team of engineering professionals
Lead direct reports’ professional development (e.g., hiring, performance evaluations, compensation and promotion management, routine one-on-one development conversations) and coach them on performance
Demonstrate effective communication, listening abilities, and compassion as a leader. You are an authority in the subject area, and you will assure that your team’s work products meet domain quality standards. You will ensure standards and tools align with other Blue Origin business units and with industry trends
Perform technical work and provide technical leadership of the highest caliber
Embody, promote, and coach the Blue Origin leadership principles

Required

Minimum of BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or Computer Science
Proven experience in software development and debugging skills, particularly in C/C++, MATLAB, and Simulink
Proven leadership and mentoring experience
Strong fundamentals in rigid body dynamics and 1st principles physics-based mathematical models
Hands-on experience with testing frameworks and Continuous Integration (CI) pipelines such as Gitlab
Experience with configuration management
Experience developing and maintaining simulation models including plant physics, sensors, and actuators
Experience with verification and validation of aerospace simulations and models
Strong debugging skills at the software/hardware boundary, and familiarity with software verification approaches
Highly organized and capable of planning and guiding complex technical work

Preferred

MS or higher degree in Aerospace Engineering or related technical field
Previous management experience
Experience developing software for hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing
Experience auto coding Simulink to C++
Experience in Rust
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated advanced knowledge in the development of planetary spacecraft GN&C simulations
Familiarity with NPR 7150.2D, DO-178, DO-160, and DO-254 or similar standards
