Nuclear Weapons Scientist (Scientist 2/3)
Los Alamos National Laboratory is a multidisciplinary research institution engaged in strategic science on behalf of national security. They are seeking a talented Scientist to support research and development initiatives related to nuclear weapon output programs, conducting numerical simulations, leading data management projects, and coordinating collaborations with other laboratories and government agencies.

Responsibilities
Conduct numerical simulations to support LANWOP
Lead LANWOP data management projects
Be a technical/professional liaison to the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA)
Aid in the coordination of LANWOP collaborations with other laboratories and government agencies
Aid in the expansion of LANWOP modeling capabilities
Qualification
Required
Significant knowledge and experience with one or more of these related tasks: Usage of DTRA-published weapon outputs products
The function, output, and application of various US and adversary nuclear weapons
Magnetohydrodynamics
Running complex multi-physics codes in high performance computing environments
Demonstrated commitment to quality research, technical and scientific excellence, professional integrity, scientific communication, supporting diverse points of view, and personal initiative
Ability to work unsupervised on individual projects and contribute to larger team efforts
Experience in solving complex problems with multiple variables
Proven ability to work independently and in a team environment on multidisciplinary research problems
A documented history of technical contributions to a scientific field in the form of publications, reports, technical talks, patents, etc
For Scientist 2: Position requires a bachelor's degree in a STEM field from an accredited college or university and 4 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation
For Scientist 3: Position requires a master's degree in a STEM field from an accredited college or university and 6 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation
All members of the LANWOP team must be able to obtain DOE Q and SCI clearance
Preferred
MS or PhD in Physics, Computational Science, or Applied Mathematics, with an emphasis on magnetohydrodynamics
3+ years of experience working with DTRA-published weapon outputs products
3+ years coordinating collaborations across organizations
Active or in scope DOE Q clearance or DOD TS clearance
Active or in scope SCI clearance
Relevant military and/or intelligence experience
