Responsibilities
Create a safe, injury free workplace
Comply with and support all company and departmental HSE policies and practices
Participate and comply with Workpace and BSafe, reporting programs
Participate monthly in at least one HSE walkthrough, Job Safety Analysis, or Self-Assessment
Contribute, at a minimum, one B-Safe per quarter
Work closely with customer areas and be responsible for understanding project needs, including the controls hardware, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and Human Machine Interface (HMI)
Deliver design and implementation of automation software/hardware for new projects and/or process workflow items
Apply technical skills to supply quantifiable business value
Suggest project improvements and process optimization through process control
Provide technical solutions based on first principles
Design, develop, and test software based on customer functional requirements
Ensure project resources understand their responsibilities, manage resource conflicts and facilitate sound project execution
Define and provide project and/or system metrics
Participate in the design of automation strategies
Capital Investment Request (CIR) creation and project execution
Manage project contracts and ensure corporate vendor management policies are followed
Manage relationships with contract personnel
Implement and fully document software and hardware changes following the change control process
Ensure change controls are completed on-time
Keep documentation for the area supported in compliance with the corporate Computer Systems Validation Policies, cGMPs, Electronic Records/Signatures, etc
Ensure all deviations are approved within 30 days and commit to meeting any schedule set forth as a result of countermeasures or action plans
Stay current on Learning Plan, striving to maintain a target of 100%
Participate in Lean and other continuous improvement projects. Understand customer processes and develop means of improving the controls
Technical consultant on analysis, decisions and idea generation
Expand knowledge of automation to enhance current capabilities and develop skills on other systems and in process engineering to develop as a hybrid engineer
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent work experience. (5+ years of PLC experience in lieu of degree)
Qualified applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Lilly will not provide support for or sponsor work authorization or visas for this role, including but not limited to F-1 CPT, F-1 OPT, F-1 STEM OPT, J-1, H-1B, TN, O-1, E-3, H-1B1, or L-1
Preferred
Experience with programmable logic controllers hardware and software
Demonstrated experience in technical project management
Proficiency with computer systems including Microsoft Office products
Demonstrate strong oral and written communication and interpersonal interaction skills
Ability to build and maintain relationships with individuals and teams
Proven project management skills/certification
Previous experience with GMP systems and documentation requirements
Previous experience with computer system validation
Previous experience with Wonderware and Allen Bradley
Previous experience with supporting IT related systems and servers
Previous experience with Lilly event and change control process
Proficiency with computer systems Microsoft Sharepoint, Visual Basic, SQL, etc
