Training Instructor (Communications)

Responsibilities
Prepares the Training Schedule and modifies the schedule due to unforeseen or short-notice changes to training facility (ies), lack of equipment, or mission requirements
Provides written evaluations and recommendations to the Supervisor. Operates civilian and military vehicles with an average GVW of 10,000 pounds to transport personnel and equipment
Provides instruction for approximately 30 different courses in the Program of Instruction (POI) for students and newly assigned personnel
Modifies the classroom, practical exercises, COMEX, and FTXs, if required equipment is not available
Develop and implement the individual and unit evaluation checklists(s) and score sheets based on the Unit METL, SOPs, and Commander's Objectives
Qualification
Required
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation
Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance
Work requires ability to perform daylong platform instruction and participate in field exercises in the seasonal environmental extremes
Lifts heavy weights up to 75 pounds and occasionally may have to navigate obstacles requiring crawling, bending, kneeling and climbing
Valid driver's license is required to drive civilian vehicles
This position is subject to perform temporary duty (CONUS) 50% of the time or less
Required to fly on USAF/USA aircraft which may employ special operations low level techniques
Successful completion of a pre-employment physical is required
Required to undergo drug urinalysis testing and be placed in a drug testing program
Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315
In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or requirements described below
Specialized Experience: Have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service: 1. Demonstrates a practical knowledge of Special Operations Forces Communications, equipment and techniques. 2. Experience in managing the development of the new tactics, techniques and procedures (TTP), related to the new communications systems and their operation environment. 3. Responsible for the overall maintenance of assigned courses. 4. Coordinate and execute training and instructional course material
Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Education
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09)
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university
