Manager, Venue Planning & Operations

LA28 is the independent, non-profit organizing committee for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The Manager, Venue Planning & Operations will support the Venue Operations team in liaising with the Olympic Broadcasting Service and LA28 functional areas on all broadcast planning matters to ensure successful coverage of the Games.

Responsibilities

Coordinate Contact for OBS
Coordinate communications with OBS and its Production and Planning teams
Facilitate and support venue site surveys for OBS production teams and Media Right Holders
Liaise with OBS and the LA 28 functional Areas to address venues-related broadcast needs
Assist in planning and delivery of all World Broadcaster Meetings & Briefings
Manage the exchange of information and timely submission of deliverables to OBS
Support Media Rights Holders with their implementation plans, ensuring alignment with venue infrastructure
Understand, review and optimize all broadcast delivery requirements with OBS
Work with all LA28 functional areas on in-venue broadcast matters
Coordinate all milestones and deliverables for broadcast with LA28 functional areas, the Olympic Broadcast Service (OBS), IOC, IPC and Media Rights Holders (as appropriate)
Support all infrastructure and technical planning for broadcast services, including venue development of broadcast areas at competition venues and non-competition venues
Assist in coordinating with local delivery partners to ensure readiness of broadcast venues for handoff to OBS and Media Rights Holders at Games time
Establish strong working relationships with key Functional Areas (e.g., Venue Infrastructure, Venue Management, Technology, Hospitality & Ticketing, Sport, Games Operations)
Ensure broadcast planning and services align with broader cross-functional timelines and objectives
Collaborate closely with Ticketing and Hospitality teams, particularly within the Seating Bowl Working Group, to address broadcast needs
Work with OBS, IOC, and IPC to gather requirements, secure strategic alignment, streamline approvals, and identify optimization opportunities

Required

Minimum 5 years of relevant industry experience, preferably with 7+ years of experience in broadcast production, management, coordination and operations for the sport or live event industry
Experience working international broadcast organizations providing global coverage
Experience working with a diverse range of stakeholders and proven success at building excellent working relationships
Experience working across multiple functional areas
Experience implementing communication strategies that are accessible and inclusive to a diverse audience, including considerations for language diversity and accessibility for people with disabilities
Extremely detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
Strong communication, team building, and interpersonal skills
Well-developed problem-solving skills and ability to work independently to resolve issues
Fluent working with Office suite products including Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
Self-starter with experience in defining tasks, seeking feedback, and evolving work where applicable
A collaborative mindset; someone who prioritizes the team and fosters a culture of high performance without ego

Ability to implement and manage change effectively
Available to work onsite in our Downtown Los Angeles-based office
The majority of work will be conducted in an office setting, requiring extended periods of time using computers, phones, and other office equipment
The LA28 office is an open floorplan working environment; employees must be able to work efficiently in an open cubicle environment
Some travel may be required, both domestically and internationally
Working hours may vary to accommodate different time zones in specific regions
