Engineering Intern (Summer 2026)

Charge Robotics is a Series A startup focused on building robots that construct solar farms. The Summer Engineering Intern will work on hardware and software systems for robotic factories, contributing to clean electricity generation while collaborating with a small engineering team.

Responsibilities

Contributing to the design, testing, or manufacturing of mechanical, electrical, or software systems for our robotic factory
Working with cross-functional teams (mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, software, supply chain) on real engineering challenges that affect our production timeline
Documenting your work, creating validation/test procedures, or developing tools/automation to improve our engineering and manufacturing processes

Required

Are pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, mechatronics, or a related field (graduating 2027 or later)
Have hands-on experience with robotics projects and enjoy building things (personal projects >> coursework)
Are comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment with ambiguity and evolving priorities
Are based in or can relocate to the SF Bay Area for summer 2026, and able to work 5 days/week from our San Leandro HQ for 12 weeks
Are excited to work with (and safely climb into) giant robots
Gain satisfaction from personally playing a part in mitigating climate change

Preferred

Have experience or coursework in robotics, industrial automation, controls, or manufacturing systems
Are familiar with CAD tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD), programming languages (Python, C++), or electrical design software
Have worked on projects involving mechanical systems, embedded systems, motor control, sensors, or factory automation
Are comfortable with hands-on work in a shop/factory environment
