CENIC Operations Intern
CENIC is an organization that connects California to the world by providing a high-capacity computer network essential for innovation and collaboration. They are seeking a CENIC Operations Intern to assist with documentation audits, customer contact updates, and various ticket processing tasks. This is a part-time, temporary position for students enrolled in relevant educational programs.

Responsibilities
Documentation audits and updates
Updating customer contact information
Abuse ticket processing and follow-up
Security ticket processing and follow-up
Compiling Weekly Outage Reports
OOB testing
ISO Vulnerability Remediation tracking
ISO software updates
ISO Infosec activity stream updates
Assisting fellow interns in understanding existing documentation and Network Operations processes
Providing other assistance as CENIC's business needs dictate
Qualification
Required
Applicants must be enrolled as a student at an accredited college or university at the time of hire
Students interested in this internship opportunity must be available a minimum of three (3) days per week for at least five (5) hours per day
Student interns cannot exceed twenty (20) work hours per week
Students must be available to work during standard business hours, Monday through Friday, between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m
Total hours worked per week are dependent on CENIC's business needs and may be changed by the supervisor at any time
Currently pursuing an engineering, computer science, networking/security education, or recent graduate (within the past six months)
Cypress Community College student or recent graduate (within 6 months)
Ability to lift moderately heavy (25 to 50 pounds) and heavy (over 50 pounds) objects, such as routers, switches, computers, and peripherals
Independent worker with a high degree of self-motivation
Keen attention to detail, avoiding shortcuts that may adversely impact the quality of work
Ability to prioritize and complete tasks assigned in a timely manner
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team-oriented environment
Strong customer service orientation/ability
Adept at understanding technical information and learning new concepts
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to consider, understand, and prioritize security (and privacy, where applicable) principles, practices, and procedures in all aspects of your role with CENIC
Documented Proof of identity and legal eligibility to work in the United States
Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S
CENIC does not offer STEM OPT training opportunities and cannot complete Form I-983
Preferred
Basic knowledge of IP-based networking, including knowledge of routing protocols
Familiarity with office productivity tools such as email, calendaring, and MS Office applications
Basic knowledge of computers and network security
