PLANNER I - COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT SERVICES

NEOGOV is seeking a Planner I for the Community Development Services department. The Planner I position performs professional planning work related to land use, zoning, and development review, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and assisting developers throughout the development process.

Responsibilities

Review plans and specifications for residential and commercial development projects
Review building permit applications, business tax receipt applications, and other miscellaneous planning and zoning related permits
Process annexation, future land use amendment, rezoning and variance applications
Adhere to public notice process for activities governed by state statute
Review subdivision and commercial development applications and plans to the standards of applicable city codes and coordinates review with other city departments
Provide site inspections of developments for compliance with applicable city codes
Draft and present staff reports, ordinances, and resolutions pertaining to the above, and as otherwise assigned
Coordinate with developers to assist in the overall development process
Assist with public noticing, application intake and processing as it relates to the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program and State Housing Initiative Partnership (SHIP) programs
Understand, interpret and apply the requirements and policies in the Land Development Code, Comprehensive Plan, Code of Ordinances, and other City plans and documents
Assist with Community Redevelopment Agency related activities
Attend and participate in various meetings relevant to planning, zoning and development. Represent the City within committees and other governmental entities, as assigned
Fulfill any other duties as assigned

Required

Possession of a valid State of Florida Driver's license is required
Bachelor's degree in urban and/or regional planning, public administration, or other closely related field, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job

Preferred

Working knowledge of programs such as Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP), or other similar program(s) is preferred
Proficiency in ESRI ArcGIS Pro preferred
AICP certification or candidacy preferred
GIS experience is preferred
