Staff Systems Integration and Test Engineer

Responsibilities

Own the technical roadmap for CPS‑submarine integration, including power, thermal, data, mechanical, and structural interfaces
Integrate knowledge from naval architecture, weapons control, ship‑yard processes, and certification standards to ensure a coherent system design
Set integration objectives, define the approach for installation, test, and certification, and make independent technical decisions that are later reviewed only for long term results
Partner with the Test & Evaluation (T&E) Element to define the overall test strategy
Work with the System Engineering & Integration Team (SEIT) to shape high‑level CPS requirements and ensure they are reflected in submarine platform designs
Lead trade studies and generate practical, imaginative solutions that satisfy CPS integration objectives
Self initiate tasks and determine courses of action needed to meet program milestones
Serve as the prime technical liaison with the U.S. Navy Submarine Program Office, ship yard integration teams, and industry partners
Mentor senior and junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence
Contribute to the evolution of integration standards and publish lessons learned for future programs
Present technical status, risk assessments, and integration plans at senior‑level program reviews

Qualification

Required

Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related discipline
Experience in an engineering or technology development environment
Knowledge of US Navy weapon systems or US Navy submarine design or modification programs
Experience communicating technical subjects with external stakeholders and program engineering or program management leadership
Proven ability to apply extensive technical expertise across related disciplines (e.g., weapons control, naval architecture)
U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain DoD Secret level clearance

Preferred

Demonstrated behaviors of a systems thinker; selects and applies appropriate systems thinking skills to solve sophisticated problems and implement constructive change
Familiarity with US Navy build, test, and certification requirements
Experience with complex integration problem solving, involving multiple engineering disciplines and complying with rigorous system engineering processes
Direct experience with the Conventional Prompt Strike or other kinetic strike weapons
Prior involvement in Navy submarine acquisition programs (e.g., SSN, SSGN)
Familiarity with DoD acquisition policies, MIL STD compliance, and Navy certification processes
Experience with model based systems engineering (MBSE), digital twins, or predictive analytics for integration planning
Knowledge of Navy Strategic Systems Programs (SSP) processes and procedures
