Payroll Specialist
Perfect Timing Personnel Services is a well-respected, mission-driven nonprofit seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to support its dedicated team. In this role, you will handle complex full cycle, biweekly payroll for more than 300 employees and ensure compliance with federal and state wage/hour laws.
Responsibilities
Process biweekly multi state payroll using Kronos for 300+ employees
Review timesheets, verify calculations, and resolve payroll discrepancies
Prepare and reconcile payroll uploads to the accounting system
Process 403(b), FSA/HSA, garnishments, and related payroll deductions
Troubleshoot timekeeping issues and train new employees and managers on system use
Prepare payroll-related reports for internal use and regulatory needs
Maintain payroll records across multiple states, ensuring compliance with federal & state wage/hour laws
Support annual audits (Workers’ Compensation, 403(b)) with schedules and documentation
Assist with month end close, journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting
Partner with HR on payroll impacts of new hires, terminations, benefit updates, and leaves of absence
Qualification
Required
3–5+ years of full cycle, multi state payroll—CA payroll experience required
Experience with complex operational payroll environments (multiple locations, varied schedules, shift differentials, etc.)
Proficiency with Kronos/UKG required
Strong Excel and general accounting skills
Strong communication and customer service skills; comfortable training others
Employment is contingent upon clear criminal background check, credit check, and drug screen
Preferred
CPP certification is a plus
Associate's or bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field preferred
