Behavior Core Research Technician

Responsibilities

Performing rodent behavioral assays, surgical techniques, specialized injections and sample collection for experiments in neuroscience related fields
Maintain complete and accurate observations and notes of all experimental procedures and results
Assist with troubleshooting of behavioral assays and model development
Maintain laboratory space in a clean and safe fashion
Data entry and graphing for use in reporting results to clients and for presentation at meetings
Training PI’s, staff, and students in proper behavioral techniques and use of specialized instruments and software
Maintaining equipment and ensure all equipment is running optimally
Assist with inventory of laboratory supplies; ensure items are organized and properly labeled for use and checked for expiration dates
Attend relevant trainings to further career development
Represent the Behavior Core at local, regional and/or national meetings as needed
Performs other related duties as assigned

Required

Bachelor's degree in biology, animal behavior, neuroscience, or a related field
Excellent oral and written communication skill
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office
Careful attention to detail
Willing to work on multiple projects with different faculty, staff and students from across UNE
Ability to work independently and as a valuable team member in a fast-paced atmosphere

Preferred

Relevant experience in laboratory research
Hands-on experience with rodents
