Responsibilities

Lead highway and civil design tasks, acting in responsible charge as needed Create preliminary design concepts and alternatives for highways and civil features to support cost estimating Oversee creation of surface models utilizing OpenRoads (ORD), Civil3D and/or other similar design software Lead interdisciplinary design coordination to ensure that project elements are compatible
Lead project technical meetings, provide coordination to resolve design issues
Promote and implement data-driven design approaches and innovate technical solutions
Establish and oversee project-specific design criteria and ensure contractual compliance through all phases of design
Implement QA/QC procedures and support a culture of quality across project teams and disciplines Execute final design of project elements such as roadway geometrics, roadway design plans, wall plan and profile sheets, and
Supervise, mentor and evaluate junior staff
Support performance management and professional development of team members

Required

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required
Registered as a Professional Engineer required
7+ years of civil / highway design experience with an emphasis on design-build projects
Experience designing civil/highway/rail or other transportation infrastructure or similar projects
Proficiency with MicroStation, OpenRoads, AutoCAD, Civil3D and other relevant modeling / design platforms
Proven ability to develop construction plans and deliver high-quality design packages for transportation projects
Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, including preparation of technical memos and presentations
Regular, reliable attendance
Work productively and meet deadlines timely
Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment
Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies
Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required
May work at various different locations and conditions may vary

Preferred

Experience design-build and other alternative delivery models is preferred
