Senior Level, Lead/StaffCoffeeSpace is recruiting for Phoenix Technologies, a Series A e-commerce infrastructure company focused on building an adaptable checkout and commerce platform. The Payments Engineering Lead will own the payments and checkout domain, designing and shipping core systems while guiding a small team of engineers.

Responsibilities
Own a core platform domain (checkout, payments, subscriptions, merchant flows)
Architect scalable, maintainable payment and platform systems
Partner with product and design to translate requirements into technical plans
Drive execution, estimation, and delivery against roadmaps
Establish standards for reliability, testing, and observability
Participate in on-call and ensure production quality
Mentor engineers and contribute to hiring as the team grows
Qualification
Required
Have deep experience in ecommerce, payments, or platform systems
Are fluent in TypeScript / Node and modern web stacks
Have led technical projects or small teams before
Think in systems, not just features
Thrive in fast-moving, high-ownership environments
Care deeply about quality, velocity, and merchant outcomes
Preferred
Senior or lead engineers who've owned critical platform domains
Payments / checkout specialists with systems intuition
Engineers who enjoy building foundations, not just shipping features
